Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced problems to drinking water, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was lost their life in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Moscow has intensified attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, European nations and the G7 - in providing air defence systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.
